Hi everyone, I’m Saurabh Deshmukh. Today I’m going to share my study abroad journey with you all. This exciting phase of life took me from a small town in Nagpur to the University of Queensland in Australia, and ultimately into a career I’m passionate about.
It’s been an incredible ride, and I owe so much of my success to KC Overseas Education. If you are someone who dreams of studying abroad but feels unsure of where to start, I hope my story gives you the confidence to take that leap. Like many of you, I was raised in a small town. I had always known I wanted to pursue my Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, but figuring out where to study and how to make it happen was overwhelming.
Back in January 2020, I attended an Overseas Education Fair conducted by KC. I met with their team and got counselling for multiple countries. At that point, I was open to studying in the UK, Germany, or Australia. After a detailed session at their Sadar office and talking through my options with my counsellor, I made my final decision. I realized that Australia was the destination that aligned best with my goals. Looking back, I’m so glad I had KC guiding me through this early stage.
Once I decided to study in Australia, the process began to pick up speed. Team KC helped me to apply to four universities. They included Deakin University, Monash University, RMIT, and the University of Queensland (UQ). To my astonishment, I got accepted to all of them! Each acceptance felt like a mini victory, but I eventually chose the University of Queensland for my master’s in mechanical engineering.
Counsellors were there for me through every step of the application process, making sure my paperwork was perfect and helping me stay on top of deadlines. When the time came to apply for my student visa, team KC handled everything, and I received my visa in just 48 days. That moment was when it all started to feel real and I could see my dream of studying in Australia come true.
Getting into UQ was amazing, but the journey didn’t stop there. There were still so many things to figure out before I could board that plane to Australia. KC helped me with everything, from providing IELTS coaching that helped me achieve an overall score of 6.5 to booking my accommodation at Unilodge for the first year. KC’s Experts made sure every little detail was taken care of. I finally moved to commence my masters in Australia.
When I finally landed in Brisbane, I was hit with a mix of emotions. There was excitement, nervousness, and a little bit of fear. I’d never been so far from home before, and suddenly I was in a completely new country, surrounded by unfamiliar faces. My first semester was a great learning curve. Adjusting to a different education system, figuring out how to manage my time, and getting used to the Australian way of life was a rollercoaster. But as time passed, I found my rhythm. I took on a part-time job at Burrito Bar, where I earned AUD 24 per hour. It was my first experience of financial independence, and it taught me how to manage my time between studies and work.
Over the course of my program, I grew more comfortable with my surroundings and learned so much academically and personally. After two years of hard work, I graduated from the University of Queensland in December 2022 with my Master’s in Mechanical Engineering. That moment was one of the proudest in my life, but little did I know that the real surprise was just around the corner.
I applied for my post-study work visa on January 16, 2024, and to my absolute surprise, I received it within two minutes! I remember sitting there in disbelief and questioning myself "Is this real?" But that wasn’t the only good news. Just a few days later, I got a call from a consultancy that had found my resume on a job portal. They offered me an interview, and before I knew it, I had a job offer as a Field Service Engineer at Baxter Healthcare, a global company in the medical and healthcare sector. I still can’t believe how quickly everything happened. One moment, I was a student; the next, I was starting my career in a field I’m passionate about.
For anyone thinking about studying in Australia, here’s my advice: make sure your documents are perfect because the Australian Migration Agency is getting stricter with student visas. And most importantly, find a trusted consultancy like KC Overseas Education. Without their guidance, I’m not sure my journey would have been this smooth or successful. KC doesn’t just help with the big things like applications and visas, they are there for the whole journey.
KC Overseas Education was more than just a consultancy to me, they were my biggest support system throughout this entire process. If you are dreaming of studying at any of the top universities in Australia but aren’t sure how to make it happen, I highly recommend consulting with experts at KC.
Trust me dreams do come true. Good luck with your study abroad journey!
