FAQs

1. Do I need to submit the Midyear Report and Final Report (Bachelors)?

Submit the Midyear Report only if you receive updated grades or term reports during the academic year. Most international students don't need to send this form. All students who are accepted must submit the Final Report, which should include their final grades, exam scores, or diploma upon completing secondary school. You don’t need to fill out the Final Report until you have been accepted to Yale.

2. Does Yale have a fixed number of students per country?

No! Each year, Yale admits a diversified group of international students. The number of students from different countries can vary based on the quantity and quality of applications received. There is no predetermined number of candidates from any specific country.

3. What does 'unofficial transcript' mean?

An unofficial transcript is any academic record you have, such as:

  • A transcript issued to you
  • A record of your academic performance from your institution’s SIS portal

Note: All academic records uploaded to your online application are considered unofficial.

4. What does 'Final Official Transcript' mean?

A final official transcript is one sent directly from the issuing institution. It can be a paper copy still in the envelope or a certified electronic copy that is properly signed/authenticated. If it supports your baccalaureate degree, it must show the award of the degree (or its foreign equivalent). For an advanced degree program, it must show the award of that degree. For non-degree programs, it will include all coursework taken.

5. Can GRE/TOEFL scores arrive after the deadline?

Yes, but try to have your standardized test scores sent to Yale as soon as possible. Faculty can start reviewing applications after the program deadline, but no formal decision can be made until official scores are received. Official scores that come in after the deadline will still be provided to the program.

6. Is a Writing Sample one of the requirements for the program of study?

To find out if a Writing Sample is required, check the program’s website or the online application. Once you select your program of study, if a writing sample is needed, you won't be able to submit your application until you upload one.
