Ireland stands out for the hospitality it offers to its visitors as well as to foreign corporations, who are set up in Ireland to witness certain benefits of being in the European Union. Did you know that most leading multinational companies from Ireland are the top choice for graduates from top universities in Ireland? A recent research conducted on around 8000 students in Ireland, who held specialised degrees in IT, engineering, humanities, business, economics, medicine, law, and natural sciences, showed that they were the most-preferred students for top multinational pharmaceuticals and technology companies.
Furthermore, top foreign corporations only have to pay around 12.5% tax for their set-up in Ireland, which would be approximately 21% in the US. Some of the top global companies that seem to enjoy these generous tax breaks include Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, PayPal, eBay, and Google.
According to the survey conducted by the Universum’s student research 2022, it was discovered that the biggest multinational firms stood to be the most attractive employers to Ireland students and graduates. This research mainly focused on students across medicine, IT, engineering, law, humanities, economics, law, and natural sciences.
Furthermore, this research also led to the conclusion that there is probably one main reason why students and graduates from Ireland, including study abroad students, joyfully associate themselves with multinational employers. These students are willing to embrace and build a career that consistently adopts new technologies and innovations.
IT graduates found the following list of employers the most attractive:
Compared to the past years, top multinational tech giants such as Microsoft, Google, and Apple are among the top five employers for all students and graduates of IT, engineering, business, and economics.
More precisely and in accordance with IT graduates, these three tech giants take away the top three positions and leave the remaining two for Amazon and Intel.
Most attractive employers for Engineering graduates included:
Unlike IT students and graduates, engineering students chose Intel and gave it the first place, while the other tech giants like Microsoft and Google followed next. Most Irish graduates or study abroad students choose to build their career with top-performing tech multinationals because these brands earned a great reputation over the years through consistent growth as well as their broad outlook and adoption of new innovations and technologies.
Economics and business graduates found the following list of employers as the most attractive among all:
With the multitude of restrictions on travelling and flying, the very popular Irish airlines Ryanair and Aer Lingus did undergo massive setbacks. However, with the removal of pandemic-related restrictions, they bounced back and became particularly apparent among Business graduates and Economics students. Currently, Ryanair holds the 11th rank, followed by Aer Lingus in the 12th position among most business and economics graduates. Furthermore, engineering students focused widely on airline resurgence. Engineering graduates preferred Aer Lingus a little more, giving it the 9th rank, with Ryanair lurking in the 15th position.
The most attractive employers as per natural science graduates included:
If you are wondering, ‘why study in Ireland?’ Well, one of the reasons would be because even pharmaceutical giants enjoy quite the demand among students and graduates of natural sciences from Ireland. Initially, the pharmaceutical sector experienced a grand surge during 2021 due to their immense engagement in developing the COVID-19 vaccine, whilst continuously getting rewarded for the same even to this date. For instance, pharmaceutical giants like Pfizer are the top choice for natural sciences graduates, ranked within the top 10 among Engineering students, and fall within the top 20 for IT students.
In a nutshell, students from top universities in Ireland are keeping multinational companies on their top priority list in comparison to others. While some of the global giants enjoyed fame consistently over the years, there has been a certain change in the picture post-pandemic. Numerous great bands, particularly the ones from the airline, pharmaceuticals, and travel sectors, are now favoured mainly by international students and graduates from Ireland. |
