Exciting News for international students aspiring to study in New Zealand! 

University of Auckland’s International Student Excellence Scholarship application window is now open for semester one 2025 intake.

Launched in 2016 to recognize academically outstanding students, this scholarship offers a value of $10,000 towards the compulsory tuition fees to 50 international students studying at the Undergraduate, Postgraduate (PGDip), or Master's level. The scholarship is awarded biannually for semester one and two for the students to study in New Zealand at the University of Auckland. 

Though the scholarship application window is open for semester one 2025 intake, applicants must hurry as the deadline is 24th October 2024. Those applying for semester two 2025 intake can start their scholarship application from 1 February 2025. Deadline for semester two would be 1 April 2025. 
 

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants are required to fulfil the following requirements: 

  • Be an international applicant.
  • Should not hold permanent residency or a resident visa for New Zealand or Australia.
  • Be a newly enrolled student in an undergraduate or postgraduate program, an English Language Academy (ELA) student, or a Summer Start International program with either a conditional or unconditional offer letter.
  • Be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate, postgraduate diploma, or Master's program with a minimum Grade Point Equivalent (GPE) of 6.00. 
     

Selection Criteria

The International Student Excellence Scholarship applicants are shortlisted based on:

  • Academic merit 
  • Quality of the letter of application 
  • Endorsement by the applicant's referee
  • Applicant's country of origin and 
  • Alignment of the intended program of study with the University's strategic goals 
     

Offer Acceptance

Once the scholarship is awarded, the applicant has to accept the offer as per the date specified in the award letter. If the applicant fails to do so, the university of Auckland will revoke the scholarship.
