Intakes

The University of Western Australia's intakes are classified into major and minor. Course offerings may vary between these multiple intakes. These structured academic intakes have separate application timelines to ensure that forthcoming students can plan their admissions effectively. Application deadlines are specified country wise, and some courses may have different application date requirements as well.

The primary UWA intakes are in February and July. It also corresponds to Semester 1 and Semester 2, respectively. Being a major intake, it offers the full spectrum of postgraduate and undergraduate courses. Scholarships

The University of Western Australia supports high-achieving students through a variety of scholarships that reward academic excellence and cover substantial study expenses. UWA Scholarships for International Students in Australia are categorized into Merit-based, Research-based, Global Experience Scholarships, Equity Scholarships, Foundation Scholarships, and Leadership and Social Impact Scholarships. Admissions at University of Western Australia

The University of Western Australia's admission requirements are as diverse as its course offerings. Applicants need to meet the basic Academic and English Language Requirements as required and some courses may have additional higher English language requirements as well. Some majors may have exclusive prerequisites which applicants need to meet before they receive an offer. Indian students need to have a Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent qualification with an average aggregate of 50%.

IELTS (Academic): An overall score of 6.5 with no band scores below 6 bands are accepted. 

TOEFL iBT: A total minimum score of 90, with at least 22 in each section are accepted.

PTE Academic: An overall score of 64, with no sub-score below 54 are accepted.

 

Note: Some courses may have higher English Language requirements. For instance, the IELTS overall band score requirement can range between 7 to 7.5. 

Specific courses may have additional requirements such as work experience, portfolio, research proposal, or interviews.

Indian students need to have the following scores in 12th based on their academic boards. A minimum average of 60% is accepted for ICSE; 12 for CBSE boards and 75% is accepted for various State boards. 26 is accepted for International Baccalaureate (IB).

FAQ's

For most undergraduate programs, a personal statement is not required. However, certain postgraduate and competitive programs, such as law, medicine, or business leadership courses, may require applicants to submit them.

As of the latest norms, international students in Australia are permitted to work a maximum of 48 hours per fortnight during the academic term.

To activate a UniID account, international students must visit the Pheme website and follow the step-by-step instructions to set up their account. Activation requires the student's number and date of birth.

International students seeking credit transfer at UWA must complete the "Application for Credit Transfer, Advanced Standing, and Recognition of Prior Learning" form and submit it to their Student Advising Office. If the credit transfer request involves studies from an external Institution, applicants must include either an original or a full-colour scanned copy of their official academic transcript.

The Post-Study Work (PSW) visa or the Temporary Graduate Visa (subclass 485), permits international graduates to stay back in the country for employment opportunities. The eligibility period for graduates from UWA includes up to three years for Undergraduate degree holders and up to four years for Postgraduate degree holders.
