Overview

Maynooth University, officially known as the National University of Ireland, Maynooth is located in Ireland’s only University town, Maynooth. The University roots date back to 1795 with the establishment of the Royal College of St. Patrick. In 1997, Maynooth gained autonomy under the Universities Act, making it both one of Ireland’s oldest and youngest Universities simultaneously.
 

Maynooth University Ireland main campus is split into two parts. The South Campus, or ‘Old Campus,’ which has historic buildings like the Chapel, National Science Museum, and Maynooth Castle. The North Campus, built in the 20th century, has modern academic buildings, student residences, etc. Additionally, the University operates a smaller campus in Kilkenny at St. Kieran’s College, established in 1997.
 

Maynooth University is structured into three faculties: Science and Engineering; Arts, Celtic Studies, and Philosophy; and Social Sciences. With a student population exceeding 16000 from 120+countries, the University fosters a diverse and vibrant academic community. Supporting this academic body is a dedicated faculty of over 1200 members, including 560 full-time equivalent academic staff and 680 academic and research staff members. Intakes

Intakes at Maynooth University is offered exclusively in September. This is one major intake where international students can apply for all range of programs for Postgraduate, Undergraduate or Research related studies. They can also apply for Certificates, Short Courses or Pathway programs.
 

Once students receive an offer letter and before arriving in Ireland, they will get an email from Maynooth University’s Student Records Office inviting them to complete the first step of the registration process online. Step two will need to be completed once they arrive at the university.

Cost to Study at Maynooth University

Maynooth University, the University Fees & Grants Office looks into the aspects of fee payment. The fees may vary for international students as compared to domestic students and as per the level of study and program.
 

Maynooth University fees are required to be paid by international students before completing their registration. Payments are primarily processed through TRANSFERMATE. This mode allows students to pay via SoFort, MasterCard, VISA, American Express, etc.
 

In certain cases, bank transfers can be done, but cash payments are not permitted at Maynooth University.

Scholarships

Maynooth University scholarships are available for international students at various course levels. Offered scholarships are in several categories, including Postgraduate Taught Master’s, Postgraduate Research, Undergraduate, Study Abroad, and External. Undergraduate students may check and apply for Sports Scholarships after confirming their eligibility.
 

To complete the International Scholarship Application Form offer holders need to upload their most recent transcripts & personal statement. Successful recipients receive €1,000  to €5,000 fee reduction on the full-time  Non-EU Tuition fee. International study scholarships are provided to students from partner institutions participating for a semester, summer, or full academic year.

Admission Requirement

Admission requirements at Maynooth University are given country-specific, allowing prospective students to check their eligibility before applying. Those who do not have English as their first language are required to submit their English test scores. ✅ TOEFL iBT: Minimum overall score of 90, with at least 19 in each section.

Student Essential Services

Maynooth University is dedicated to supporting students and creating a welcoming atmosphere to help them feel comfortable. The Office of Student Engagement assists new students as they settle in, while specialized staff offer guidance and support throughout.
