Intakes

Montclair State University offers two intakes for international applicants. For Graduate entry, some programs may follow a rolling admissions process, while others may have priority deadlines for early consideration. Students who apply undergrad studies early receive a decision within 3 to 6 weeks after submitting all required materials. Moreover, to be considered for scholarships, applicants must complete their application by the March deadline.

Maximum programs are available for both Fall and Spring intakes for graduate and undergraduate applications. However, a few Master's level programs may not be offered during the Spring intake.

Scholarships at Montclair State University

Admission Requirement

Montclair State University follows a holistic approach when reviewing admission applications. Along with academic performance, other factors are also considered. Most Graduate programs require two letters of recommendation, though some may request none or up to three. Additional requirements such as a resume, statement of purpose (SOP), essay, audition, or portfolio may also be required, depending on the program. Applicants need to hold a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.

The test requirements vary by program. 
✅ GRE: A minimum score of 295 is required for MS in Accounting, MS in Nutrition and Food Sciences, and MS in Clinical Psychology.
✅ GRE waivers may be available for students who meet specific eligibility criteria.

SAT or ACT scores are not essential for admission for applicants.

TOEFL iBT: A minimum score of 70
PTE Academic: An overall score of 48
